- The Redmi AirDots S launched in China at 99.9 Yuan.
- Redmi has improved the connectivity within the new model with a replacement pairing mode.
- The Redmi AirDots S promises A battery lifetime of up to 12 hours, including the case back up.
There were rumors of a replacement pair of wireless earbuds from Redmi a few weeks ago, hinting at better designs and improved performance. Well, Redmi has announced the rumored earbuds in China and it indeed brings some improvements over Redmi AirDots earbuds. Redmi did not call air dot 2 but Redmi calls it AirDots S. What does the “S” stand for? Improved connectivity, during this case, nothing else.
The Redmi AirDots S launch carries forward an equivalent design from the first model and it even sells with an equivalent old tag, 99.9 Yuan to be precise. It even comes within the same black shade because of the original model. However, Redmi has changed a few things here and there, with the first one being the connectivity technology. The AirDots S now makes use of a Bluetooth 5.0 chip and Redmi claims that it gives an incredible improvement in connectivity.
The AirDots S ditches the old master-slave sort of pairing and now relies on a stronger individual pairing mode. When connected to a tool, both the earbuds are connected to the phones. If one among the earbuds is transitioned. The opposite one continues streaming audio from the device. Redmi says the transition from stereo to mono setup is sort of seamless. The AirDots S also gets a replacement low latency mode for gaming sessions.
When it involves the specifications, it hasn’t changed much. The earbuds still use 7.2mm drivers and a DSP for smart noise reduction. Hence, these should still sound an equivalent as before. almost like the latest earbuds, the AirDots S also supports voice assistants and so as to activate it, one must double-tap the button.
Speaking of buttons, since these are budget earbuds, Redmi has stuck to buttons the earbuds for controls. one tap can play or pause music playback also as receive calls. Weirdly, so as to cancel or reject a call, one must press and hold the button for a second.
AirDots S also keeps it up with unchanged battery life figures. Almost like the older model, the earbuds can work continuously for up to four hours on one charge. And therefore the case adds a complete of 12 hours of life.
As of now, the AirDots S are solely listed in China and it remains to be seen whether or not Xiaomi brings these to our markets. As long as Poco has already confirmed performing on new earbuds, it seems that the AirDots S might be rebranded as a Poco product for the Indian market.
